World Intellectual Property Day, or World IP Day, is celebrated annually on 26th April.
It has been an important day in the calendar since its inception in 2000, with each annual celebration featuring a different theme. The theme for 2024 is – IP and SDGs: Building our common future with innovation and creativity.
This year’s theme is especially important to businesses like Intonation, as it shines a light on the critical role we, as small and medium enterprises, play in advancing global sustainability efforts.
World IP Day is an annual event to celebrate the world’s inventors and creators and to explore how intellectual property helps shape our world.
It was initially set up by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in 2000 with two goals:
As a leading patent translation agency, Intonation joins in the annual celebrations to support and inspire the next generation of innovators.
Every year, the WIPO sets the theme for World IP Day and leads on its celebrations.
Events are held across the globe to commemorate the occasion and a suite of resources are available from the WIPO for businesses to participate. This includes IP training courses, tools, and a social media kit with campaign materials in eight languages.
