There’s a fresh face in the Intonation office thanks to the arrival of our new apprentice Will Mowlam.
Will joins our ever-growing team for a year as ‘Business Admin Team Member’ and four weeks in, the 21-year-old from Fareham is working hard to help Intonation maintain its high standards. But working in the translation industry is a far cry from his original plans; Will has a BTEC in Applied Forensic Science from Fareham College however he soon discovered that finding employment in the field of forensics wasn’t easy.
Although Will had spent time on various work placements, he had been unemployed for a while when he successfully secured his spot at Intonation through the Kiwi Ltd apprenticeship scheme.
“I’m really enjoying my time here and it’s a welcome change to be in employment. Although I’ve done basic business admin in the past, it’s not like the work I do at Intonation,” said Will.
An average day in the office sees Will processing documents, handling quotes and handling invoices. Will is the third apprentice to join Intonation and follows hot on the heels of another Will who, after spending a year with us, was made a permanent member of our team as Senior Administrator, and Sam, who heads up our document processing/ conversion department.
“In addition to general admin I work on conversions, which is getting documents ready for translation, so I have the opportunity to get to know the systems and programs,” Will added. “I knew nothing about the translation industry before joining Intonation but I’m rapidly learning thanks to the support of a great team.”
Intonation’s Commercial Director, Dan Peachey, adds, “At Intonation, we feel it’s important to offer young people a chance to get a foot up in the world of office work. The apprentices we’ve employed have gained valuable experience and we’ve gained three great members of staff. We enjoy working with Kiwi on finding the right people for the right job and look forward to the next time we make the team larger!”
